"Trippi" are a newly launched brand from a company based in the UK - which makes them one of a very few British brands. The nicotine pouches currently come in two flavours ‘Bubblegum’ and ‘Cool Mint’. I love giving a UK brand a try so lets see what they're like...
The somewhat retro can design is unique… and it won’t be to everyone’s taste - but it is done well. The labels fit correctly, are firmly attached and the can doesn’t feel cheap in any way - which can often be the case with new to market products.
The front features the flavour name and strength -
The can has an ingredients list printed on the back as well as an age warning and best before date -
Trippi has launched with the two flavours, ‘Cool Mint’ (you’ve gotta have mint right?) and ‘Bubblegum’ - the latter appealing much more to my personal taste. I understand they plan on expanding their range - so hopefully this will include more interesting flavours. I’ve tried more mint nicotine pouches than I’ve had hot dinners…
So it’s a reasonably cool looking brand, it’s certainly not big tobacco and there’s at least one flavour there I’m very eager to try. It's great to see UK based companies get involved in the industry - and hopefully they can grow to compete with their European counterparts.
I’m a big fan of trying new brands and flavours - and it’s especially cool they're based in the UK - so let’s get to the product reviews -
So having a sweet tooth - and being a fan of something a bit different- the first of the Trippi nicotine pouches I opted to try was the ‘Bubblegum’ flavour.
The can is your pretty standards design - with a used pouch compartment in the lid and whilst the packaging is simple - there are certainly no flaws to speak of the design gives it a more independent vibe.
Opening the can and the smell hits you pretty hard - a very sweet aroma with a strawberry bubblegum scent with a bit of a sting to it. The smell doesn’t give of a mellow vibe which I kinda like from a sweet nicotine pouch - but let's see what it tastes like.
First off it’s worth noting the pouches seem pretty well-made - and are plump, soft and just the right moisture level. There a standard slim format - with a size and weight similar to a Killa or pouch.
Taking a nicopod and going for the taste test - it’s strength it is noticeable almost immediately, and I enjoy a nice tingly sensation for 10-15 minutes. The even better news is the taste far more mellow and enjoyable than the smell might make you think.
Given the strength of the nicotine pouch - it’s not one you forget is there - but it’s comfortable and the sweet bubblegum flavour comes through nicely. Nowhere near as overwhelming as I found the smell - it’s a well-balanced flavour and in fact at the time of writing this review there’s only 3 left in my can - so I’ve definitely enjoyed it.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth - but are looking for something you can enjoy all day this is a perfect choice, and I’d recommend giving it a try.
Trippi 'Cool Mint'
So I think I’ve pretty much covered the can and pouch quality looking at the Bubblegum flavour - so we’ll get right to it with the ‘Cool Mint’ flavour.
On opening a fresh can and giving the pouches a sniff - the aroma is pretty much what you’d expect from the flavour name - and also every brand needs a mint flavour right?
Much like their Bubblegum counterparts these pouches have a nice initial tingling sensation and the ‘Cool Mint’ couples this nicely with a strong menthol taste that adds to the experience. It’s a middle of the road middle flavour - but honestly in this case o think that’s a good thing for a new brand. It gets the basics right and delivers a flavour no one could complain about in what so far seem to be well produced and enjoyable pouches.
If you're a fan of mint nicotine pouches - you'll have no complaints here. For a new brand you've got to appeal to that market - and these mint nicopods tick all the right boxes.
