Hey Nicotine Freaks,
Raylex Brands is a UK based manufacturer of plant based, functional beverages with the "mission of making the world healthier one sip at a time." Alex Lai and his team at 420 Drinks have been doing well since their launch.
In addition to 420, Raylex also owns 'Simplee Aloe' - all natural Aloe Vera beverages and supplements in addition to 'Wow' - cold-pressed juices made with Chia seeds.
The CBD Element
With a name like 420, it can't be too surprising that '420' contains CBD. The "opposite of a coffee" is how the drink is described, offering relaxation without the usual jitters and nervousness associated with over consumption of caffeine.
Every can is infused with 15mg of CBD, which has been linked to numerous physical and psychological benefits. CBD is directly extracted from high quality hemp, possessing none of the strong psychoactive qualities of its counterpart, THC.
My first thought was about holding parties again or when people are on their next sunny holiday. Wouldn't it be nice to have a refreshing CBD cocktail? There is good news. 420 Drinks are available in three flavours: Hibiscus Ginger, Wild Berries and Elderflower Lime.
420 Drinks state their CBD is derived from all-natural, agricultural hemp grown in Colorado, USA. Specifically, each can contains:
- 15mg of CBD per 250ml can
- CBD derived from all-natural, agriculturally grown hemp (zero THC)
- No added sugar or sweeteners
- Vegan + vegetarian-friendly
- Gluten Free
- Only 33 calories per can
I can definitely see this is being something fun to make cocktails with, whilst enjoying the added benefit of being 'skinny' at the same time. Put it this would rather have a 420 CBD infused Hibiscus and Ginger and vodka instead of a soda vodka with lime in it.
Hibiscus and Ginger - for some reason I'm cautious about anything ginger, Despite my misgivings about over ginernyess this turned out to be my favourite. Hands down. I don't know why but it just worked.
Elderflower and Lime - Elderflower is a a bit of a weird one in my view - it can go either way. Fortunately in this case, 420 have done something with the lime that complements the elderflower well.
Wild Berries - a classic wild fruits assortment, it was just as good if not better than some other drink you'd grab on your way home for twice the price. This flavour is a natural winner.
Where to get it
Available at a number of shops including Sainsbury's and Holland and Barrett - they are also available to buy online at 420 Drink's website for quick box shipping to your door. At the time of writing 420 Drinks seem to be priced more or less £1.50 per can. All things considered, not bad.
For only 33 calories you can't go wrong, it tastes just as good if not better than something fully sugary. There are also the added benefits of CBD.
We look forward to tracking the progress of Raylex Brands and 420 into 2021. Available wholesale, online at or via various retail outlets including Sainsbury's.
