So it's been quite a while since I've written up a review - my bad - but I thought I'd dive back in a take a look at the pouch that's been in my upper lip most recently - the Ace Superwhite X in 'Cool Mint' - a recent release from Danish company Ministry of Snus. The Ace X is essentially a stronger version of the Ace Superwhite 'Cool Mint' - plus it's got a much cooler - glow in the dark can!
So some details on the pouches themselves -
- 20 portions per can
- Can weight: 15g
- Pouch weight: 0.75g
- Strength: 20mg/g nicotine
- Nicotine per pouch: 15mg
In terms of strength - it's the same 'cool mint' as available in the standard 'Superwhite' range - but the pouches are heavier (by 0.25g) providing that extra strength. The pouches are still nice fluffy pillows you'd expect from Ace - with a uniquely higher moister rate than other brands - which personally I love.
I've previously done a video review of the product on Instagram TV which you can check out here - but wanted to get something written with the key details.
Now I'm a big Ace fan - so I was a big fan of these pouches. The strength is high - but not too high - and actually about right for me given the amount of pouches I go through nowadays! The flavour is a pretty standard mint which has a very noticeable 'cool' flavour and lasting aftertaste.
For me Ace really stand out in terms of production quality - which is why there my go-to pouch (along with Nordic Spirit) - and to see some expansion in the range is great - but personally I would have loved to have seen the introduction of a new flavour (or more) as opposed to simply upping the strength. It does however cater well to the customers who lean towards the higher strength pouches. What's also great about these strong Ace X pouches is that they last a long time - so a can will last you a good while.
Overall I think it's another good product from Ace - it caters to what seem to be the current market trends for higher strength pouches - and it's extremely well produced and presented. The next up from Ace is the Ace X 'Cosmic' - which I'm currently waiting on - but as I understand it this is the same 'Cold Mint' flavour - but a notch up in strength again.
What I'd really love to see from the older more established manufacturers like Ace to look a little more at leading the market as opposed to following. I've no doubt they've got huge capacity for innovation - and I'd love to see that come through. What we see from newer entrants to the market is they seem to be leading the way when it comes to product innovation - especially with regard to flavour options. In a very short space of time the market exploded with a range of products offering up flavours similarly to the vape liquid market - and for me that's something the older, more established brands need to take note of.
