77 has just launched their second set of new flavours in their ‘Dark Series’ range, with ‘Strawberry’, ‘Peach and Mint’ and ‘Blackcurrant’ being some of the other seven. You can read my review on ‘Raspberry’ here.
If you have read my other reviews on the 77 products, you will know what I’m about to say about the sleek design of the can. The all black design looks very professional, with the green 77 logo, slightly darker than the bright green of ‘Apple and Mint’ embezzled on the lid. The catch lid for used portions has a green ombre effect, fading from a very light green on the left, to a very dark green on the right.
When the initial three 77 flavours were released not long ago (‘Fresh Mint’, ‘Ice Mint’ and ‘Forest Fruits’), ‘Fresh Mint’ was one of the tastiest mint-flavoured nicotine pouches I had ever tasted. My fear with the higher strength pouch in the dark series, was that the higher nicotine content would compromise it’s taste. When I popped one in my lip, I was happy to taste the familiar taste I was used to from using so many of the original 12mg pouches. The taste is of a slightly (but not overly) sweet mint, with less of a sting to the gum compared to it’s ‘Ice Mint’ cousin. The smell is similar, but a bit less pleasant than the weaker original ‘Fresh Mint’ pouches. However this wasn’t an issue for me, as it is expected with the stronger pouches. Having said that, all of the fruity pouches still smell as delicious as the original ‘Forrest Fruits’, but I would put this down to the fact that the fruity smell is stronger than the minty one.
The 20mg strength provides a good kick, without being overwhelming. The nicotine delivery is strong but steady, and lasts for around 45 minutes. I would say that these feel stronger than the other pouches in the series, but I’ve found this to be the case with most mint pouches.
In conclusion, 77 ‘Fresh Mint’ was as good, if not better than I expected. I would recommend them to anyone who is a fan of minty nicotine pouches.
